Overview:
Join Professor Xiaojun Wang, visiting scholar from Wuhan, China, for a presentation/discussion on how to conduct business in China. During the presentation, you will learn how to:
-Strengthen relationships with your Chinese business partners
-Distinguish variations among China’s ethnic regions and learn the importance of adjusting your manners to meet expectations in different cities
-Learn the art of greeting and exchanging business cards and gifts “the Chinese way”
Following the presentation, Professor Wang will walk you through the details of a business banquet –seating arrangements, eating different foods using chopsticks, returning toasts. You will “learn by doing” as you practice the “dos and don’ts” of a Chinese business banquet while enjoying a variety of menu items at Imperial Garden.

Speaker Biography:
Since 1993, Wang Xiaojun (Helen) has been employed by the South-Central University for Nationalities (SCUN), Wuhan, China. In 2005 she became an associate professor in the economics department. She has been working as a visiting professor at the Confucius Institute, University of Wisconsin-Platteville, USA, since April 2008.
An accomplished teacher, she was awarded second prize in the SCUN teaching competition in December 2003. She has taught financial management, international taxation, public finance and taxation, banking credit management and contemporary Chinese economy.
Her research interests include foreign trade and investment in China, the Chinese social security system, the economic development of ethnic groups in China, and international accounting standards.
Some of her publications include: Digital Agriculture & Sustainable Development of Agriculture in Ethnic Areas of Western China (2005); Research on the Spreading Mechanism of Agricultural Experts System in Western China (2005); Analysis and Prevention on Financial Risk of Social Security in China (2004).
Xiaojun (Helen) is married to an economics professor at South-Central University for Nationalities, Wuhan, China and has a 15 year old stepdaughter.
