Past Research Collaboratives

In 2005 the Center for World Affairs and the Global Economy conducted a grant competition that yielded three multi-year interdisciplinary projects. These three collaboratives along with an ongoing project on new governance anchored WAGE’s programming through summer 2008.

Current Account Sustainability
Analyzes the ability of the major economies of the world (“the G-5”) to sustain large current account deficits over prolonged periods.

Governing Global Insecurities
Focuses on the new insecurities the process of globalization has created for states and societies, with special emphasis on the globalization of violence and ecological risk.

New Governance
Investigates new governance approaches arising out of efforts to promote international economic integration while preserving and updating distinctive national systems of social and environmental protection.

Technology Entrepreneurship & Institutions
Explores how organizational contexts influence technology entrepreneurship and how the latter influences the creation of markets and institutions that support innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic development.

Representing ongoing work of WAGE Director, Jonathan Zeitlin, and other faculty, the New Governance collaborative continues as a fourth collaborative from 2008-2011. Our new Global Security Initiative builds directly off the Governing Global Insecurities collaborative. To learn more about these past collaboratives or our current collaboratives, we invite you to contact WAGE at wage@intl-institute.wisc.edu or to interact directly with the relevant faculty researchers.
